Hold That Thought

The second best productivity hack

Every Thursday I share three useful things to help you turn overthinking into expert thinking. Here are this week’s picks:

1.

It occurred to me that I've been inadvertently coping with the lazy days of summer by practicing a bit of what Saul Griffith calls Productive Procrastination.

This article is a quick gem from 2011, but the concept is having a little reprise lately.

I fully expect to be challenged by too much procrasti-learning soon.

2.

Jessica Hagy is shared in the newsletter again, this time with 10 wins of awkward silence. These are great incentives for keeping mum, especially when you aren't sure what to say.

3.

James Clear (author of Atomic Habits) says that the best productivity hack is saying no, but delegation works too.

In the interest of creating more headspace, I've created a new tool to help you offload an important project or task with confidence and ease. Please try out my simple Delegate It worksheet:

Hope that helps you clarify something important.

And please let me know how it went! I literally need your feedback to know what to do to improve these things, so all thoughts are welcome. That goes for this newsletter, too.

Extra thought…

I considered sharing something wellness-related about coping with lazy summer days, but all the articles I found were the same basic advice you already know — drink water, sleep and eat well. So this is simply a reminder that summer fatigue is real and you know what you need to do about it.

I realise many of you are in the other hemisphere and so know that winter fatigue is real, too.

Are you procrastinating productively? With what? And which was your favorite win of awkward silence?
