Hold That Thought

You have 3% of the year remaining…

Would you like to go into low power mode?

This week I've been thinking about taking extra care as we wind down the year. Here are three things on that theme to turn overthinking into expert thinking:

  1. Choose your difficulty level for ending the year well: easy, intentional, or intensive? Includes my Wheel of Life worksheet, just updated this morning!
  2. “Wintering is not about completely withdrawing or giving up. It’s about finding the right balance between rest and movement, solitude and connection. Like a tree pulling energy into its roots, it’s about gathering strength for your next season of growth.” — The Art of Wintering by Anne-Laure Le Cunff
  3. Speaking of, Tree Spirit Wisdom is “a nurturing and educational space to renew your soul by connecting with the ancient wisdom of trees”

This week's underthinking link is a simple site that tells you what percentage of the year is left

Extra thoughts…

For us in the Northern hemisphere, the Winter Solstice starts on Saturday. I'll be participating in my second Winter of Care and Repair (WoCaR) challenge. I learned a lot from last year, so I'm making this season's pledge a lot easier on myself:

While Instagram might have you think this is all about mending clothes, it certainly doesn't have to be. So go glue that handle on the mug, wash the baseboards, finally pair that speaker to your phone, or whatever else…it all counts!

Will you join me? If so, what silly thing are you excited to finally make functional again? What acts of care will you feel most smug about? And what might you think by next Spring when loads of your stuff is sorted?

This will be my last newsletter of the year, so I leave you with this short story that is a big glass of Christmas, a shot of language and a sprig of code:

Mele Kalikimaka is a think to say…but why??

Take care,

Kim

PS. For more on what WoCaR is all about, plus great ideas about what you can do, check out this post by the challenge's creator, Jeanna Wigger, or listen to her and Zoe Edwards talk about it on a recent episode of Check Your Thread

If you know somebody who might get value from this newsletter, why not share with them? Forward this email to help them gain more clarity and confidence about what they're doing, too:

You can always visit the newsletter archive for all the worksheets and other free tools. Or browse podcast episodes and read the latest long-form insights. I even have a page where you can access every Medium article I've written, paywall-free

Hope you enjoy this as much as I do creating and sharing it!
