For this week's underthinking link, Text Particles lets you mindlessly meditate with your cursor and whatever words you wish.
Extra thoughts…
The “find your purpose” gurus all say that you become the person you needed back when you were struggling. As much as I resist that cringy phrasing, the sentiment is certainly true for me. It's why I became a coach after leaving UX. And why I help people make these kinds of big life-changing transitions today. What the gurus DON'T tell you is that you also FIND the person you need as you figure it all out, discover your new path, and take on the challenges as you level up. For me, that's 🧿 Meltem (UX Career and Leadership Coach). She's inspiring me to take this mission to brave new places, to help even more people, and to do this in ways I didn't think possible (and couldn't do alone). If you're thinking of leaving UX and don't want to do it alone either, register your interest to join Mel and I in the first cohort of an exciting new program, How to Transition Out of UX:
And if you're contemplating a different kind of change in your career or other area of life and want to take a step toward that, let's have a quick chat about it!
I hope you all have a great rest of your week.
With love, Kim
Gentoo penguins are known for giving small gifts of smooth pebbles to show their appreciation for those they build nests with. It's called “pebbling”. Among humans, this can often look like forwarding emails (such as this one!), offering kind words, or leaving tips.
If you have been enjoying Hold That Thought and would like to share a pebble of appreciation, you can do so here:
