Hold That Thought

The antidote to nonsense

Hold That Thought…

This week I've been thinking about keeping it simple. Here are three things on that theme to turn overthinking into expert thinking:

  1. Most psychometric tests are absolute nonsense. So, you're a Blue? An INTP? A Challenger? I say, so what.
  2. “No, right now and indeed for all time–the hardest thing in the world is to not be infected by what’s happening around you. To not lose your mind…or your decency…or your sense of what matters.” — Ryan Holiday on the most important thing for these crazy times
  3. A common pattern I've seen in 800+ hours of coaching others is the confusion and internal resistance that occurs when people try to tackle multiple horizons of focus at the same time…
    • It's being confused about which tasks to do because everything feels pointless (vision isn't clear).
    • It's holding onto too many projects at once (can't move forward with any one thing).
    • It's talking about goals when you really just want to get on with the work.
    • Whatever it is, a question to ask yourself might be: Where is my interest and focus right now? Then go with that.

From 2009 – 2012, iPhones had a “Send to YouTube” button in the Photos app. Many of these uploads kept default IMG_XXXX filenames. Riley Walz made a bot that crawled YouTube and found 5 million of them.

This week's underthinking link is a random peek into these raw, unedited moments from random lives: IMG_0001

Extra thoughts…

Not much more to add this week. How are you keeping it simple?
Kim
