Hold That Thought

Less smart, inside and out

Hold That Thought

This week I've been thinking about the difference between smarts and wisdom (and how to err toward the latter). While I didn't solve it, I now know this: it starts in our heads and in our homes. Here are three five things on that theme to turn mental energy into meaningful action:

  1. 3 fresh takes on what wisdom is, from Clearer Thinking
  2. The smart one is dumb, from Salmon Labs
  3. Function-stacking: a wiser way to use your stuff, from Nat Mendham
  4. Returning to the Home as a Place of Production by Karen Rosenkranz
  5. In the German village of Etteln, smart doesn’t just mean sensors and software. From Reasons to Be Cheerful (another wonderful creation by David Byrne)

This week's underthinking link is TV.garden, where you can watch live TV from anywhere in the world. Freely, legally and easily accessible.

Extra thoughts…

The things we do need not be particularly complicated or profound; they just need to work to solve our problems. Tiny example: using a common household item to re-pot a very prickly cactus

I loved the multi-function reframes in the Salmon Labs link. I'm an Alchemist-Curator-Simplifier. What about you?

Every quarter, I offer low-to-no cost coaching sessions. This gives people like you an easy way to try coaching. Plus, it's fun for me, I get to meet people who read this newsletter, and I always learn lots.

So, whether you're contemplating a tiny action or overhauling your life, I'd love to help you think through the next important bit of that. The offer drops next Thursday; stick around to get in on it!

And please forward this email to a friend or colleague who might benefit, too.

Simply,
Kim

PS. I'm toying with the idea of switching this newsletter from weekly to every other week. For me, there are pros (and cons) to both. So I'd love to know what would be best for you?

If you have been enjoying Hold That Thought, here are two quick ways you might support me: share a thought or send me a pebble.

Hope you enjoy these things as much as I do creating and sharing them!
