Boggling 2022 — Hold That Thought

Published over 1 year ago • 1 min read

Every Thursday I share three useful things to help you turn overthinking into expert thinking. This week, I offer a short reflection (with links).

At the start of the year, I posted this on LinkedIn:

Reader, I smashed it.

Meaning, I bungled, muddled, and mucked my way through the entire danged year.

As I did, I also practiced more and more of one of its biggest themes: reframing

With that in mind, it's easier for me to see how every mistake is really just a learning.

And every criticism or judgement is just a wish

Fortunately, I also learned a lot through small wins and simply doing the work — and how to do the work simply

My best learning was through interactions with all of you. Real and meaningful conversations, imaginary ones (in my overthinking head), parasocial relationships (the healthy kind) — it goes in many directions and includes the role models out there (also often you!) I looked up to and who influenced my ways of being in the world.

So, THANK YOU. I messed up learned loads and it all turned out ok!

This is the last newsletter of the year from me, so I'll see you on the flipside. May your holiday season be peaceful — in your head and all around you,
Kim

PS. Flubbing, bollixing, botching…what are your favorite words for f'ing up?

I'm available to work with two more people in the new year. If you think that might be you, start getting READY now!

What's on your… My dog Terry had ear surgery Monday and I'm having a wisdom tooth pulled Friday, so this week I've been thinking about how we all get through a tough week. Here are three things on that theme to help turn overthinking into expert thinking: The #1 cause of burnout is not what you think. A 6-minute pep talk from Liz Wiseman at the Big Think No, they are not mad at you. And other comforting messages from anonymous dogs When you're too tired to figure out what you need, go to your...

Deciding how to get there Possible paths by panic_attack from Getty Images In previous weeks, we'd been exploring Vision and Mission. I'm back from a brief holiday in Malta, rested and ready to help you put all of this into practice. Which means that this week, I've been thinking about Strategy and Roadmap. Here are three things on those themes to help turn overthinking into expert thinking: 1. Putting it all together…all four of my worksheets — Vision › Mission › Strategy › Roadmap — in one...

Don't pin the butterfly Photo by serikbaib from Getty Images Last week we explored developing your Vision. This week I've been thinking about what it might take to create that. Here are three things on that theme to help turn overthinking into expert thinking: 1. Your Mission (statement), if you choose to accept it, is the work it takes to create your Vision. I've made another worksheet to help you with exactly that. Download your editable Mission Worksheet (PDF): Clarify and develop your...
